Bread Pudding with a Spirited Sauce

Ingredients
Bread Pudding
- 6 - 8 slices of bread, cut into 3/4" cubes
- 1/2 c Raisins
- 2 c milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 c sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Spirited Sauce
- 1 1/4 c powered sugar
- 6 Tbsp butter
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c rum, brandy or apple juice
Instructions
Bread Pudding assembly
- Heat oven to 350°F (176C)
- Butter a 1 qt baking dish.
- Combine bread cubes and raisins in a baking dish.
- Combine milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg, blend well.
- Pour over bread and raisins. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Bake, uncovered, for 50 minutes or until a knife is inserted in the center comes out clean.
Spirited Sauce
- In a saucepan, combine all ingredients.
- Cook over low heat, stirring consistently, until thickened, about 3 minutes.
- Served warm over pudding.
