Cajun Cabbage and Kielbasa

Sometimes such an easy and economical meal such as cooked cabbage needs a kick in the pants to make it more interesting. The addition of Andouille sausage and Cajun seasoning does just that! Playing a little Zydeco music while you're fixing this will have you dancing around the kitchen!

Cajun Cabbage and Kielbasa

The addition of Andouille sausage and Cajun Seasoning kicks this humble dish up several notches!

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Andouille sausage, cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 T bacon grease
  • 1 head of cabbage, chopped coursely
  • 1/2 sweet onion, chopped coursely
  • 1 garlic clove or the equivalent
  • 1 - 2 T Cajun Seasoning
  • 2 - 3 T sugar

Instructions

  1. In a heavy and large skillet, heat on medium and add bacon grease.
  2. Saute kielbasa in skillet until done, remove from skillet.
  3. Add cabbage, onion, garlic, sugar and seasonings. Toss to combine and cover with a lid.
  4. Toss every 3-5 minutes and cook until cabbage is to your desired doneness.
