Fun on a toothpick!! A little sweet and a little heat is a good way to describe these little bites of goodness and they are so easy to put together!!

Pig Poppers

A little sweet, a little heat and a whole lot of deliciousness!!

Ingredients

  • 1 (14oz) package cocktail weiners
  • 13 - 14 slices of bacon, not thick cut
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • Dash cayenne pepper
  • Toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Soak toothpicks in water for an hour before using.
  2. Cut each slice of bacon into thirds.
  3. Mix brown sugar and cayenne together in a bowl.
  4. Tightly wrap a third of a piece of bacon around a weiner. Roll in brown sugar/cayenne mixure and secure with a damp toothpick.
  5. OVEN METHOD: Preheat oven to 350F (176C). In order to catch the grease as it cook, line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or tin foil and insert a heat proof baking rack and place Pig Poppers on the baking rack.
  6. Bake for 40 - 50 minutes or until the bacon is completely done, turning each over at the half way point.
  7. AIR FRYER METHOD: Preheat Air Fryer to 350F 176C). Place Pig Poppers in the basket or on the rack. Bake for 20 minutes, turn each one over and bake until the bacon in completely done.

Notes

Sometimes I use pepper bacon and sometimes I don't. Adding cayenne pepper is completely optional. These are great to make the day before and bake before your party begins.
