Smoked Cream Cheese

This technique will up the flavor of cream cheese. Use as an ingredient in a savory dish or top with pepper jelly for and outstanding appetizer.

Ingredients

  • Cream cheese, room temperature
  • Oil, for a binder
  • BBQ rub
  • Pepper jelly, optional

Instructions

  1. Place cream cheese on a piece of parchment paper or in a heat proof dish. Coat with oil and sprinkle with BBQ dry rub. Make crosshatch cuts in cream cheese, being careful not to slice all of the way through it. I use unflavored dental floss. Place in a 225F (107C) smoker or oven. Let it smoke or bake until the cracks open up or to your desired amount of doneness. Top with pepper jelly and serve with crackers or corn chips.
